International
Festival Of World Music
RING RING 2003 - SOUNDS GLOBAL
|
Seven
years have passed, since we started. Is it a time to change
something? Concept, programation? Or did we change already?
Maybe we should leave the festival to develop the way it
has to be, according to artistic desires of the organiser,
wishes of the audience which has been with us from the day
one, or we move in the need for the new audience? Last year,
we had "world music" groups more then ever, this
year, there will be even more. Some will complain. But,
do not forget 96. And the fact, that then ethnic music was
alternative, indeed. Nowadays, this has been turned upside
down (I'd say, went back to normal), you find world music
everywhere, jazz, rock festivals, BEMUS, clubs and pubs.
We are just trying to present the best, new and little bit
different.
Festival's main topic this year is music of Gypsies, therefore
the festival marks the end of the seria of Gypsy music concerts,
under the name "Aven Romalen". Four concerts of
Gypsy music and "crème de la crème" at the end,
should verify that music of Roma people and Romany culture
has its own place within European and World culture. But,
lets not only talk about Gypsy music, Ring Ring audience
has alays been ready to make close contacts and communicate
with the artists. And, what about concerts? They will be,
as usual, resasons for the good vibrations in Belgrade these
days. Do not forget, festival number 10 is coming closer.
Before that one, there will be one more May, 14-18, 2004.
