EXHIBITION:

Dah Teatar will celebrate ten years
of its existence in June 2001.This theatre presents the first
independent theatre group in Yugoslavia, that through its work and
existence has succeeded in breaking the barrier of the institutional
theatre, and the traditional theatre language. Dah Teatar in
its artistic realization also moves the limits of modern theatre
expression in these parts, and expands the concept of theatre
upon movement, dance and music, making them an integral part of
the performance.
Today we can say that thanks to Dah
Teatar, the number of theatre groups has grown, and for the first
time we can speak of the existence of an independent contemporary
theatre scene in our country. It is certain that our work has
been an inspiration and support to our colleagues that have chosen
the path of this theatre direction. Dah Teatar is also one of the
founders of the Association of Independent Theatres-ANET, in Belgrade.
The broader activities of Dah Teatar
that are rounded up in the DAH THEATRE RESEARCH CENTER- workshops,
guest performances, festivals, have always been organized with
the consciences of the need of this environment to open up, encounter
different forms and learn from artists that already present the
tradition of the contemporary theatre of the XX Century. The
workshops that have been organized by us, have been, during the
last years, the only source of knowledge for young theatre artists
in Serbia.
This years Meeting will be a continuation
of Dah Theater's tradition of organizing international theatre
meetings of contemporary theatre artists that initiated with the
founding of the CENTER -1993. Art Saves Life, 1994. Art Saves Life
II, 1996. International Theatre Workshop Meeting.
Beside the performances and work presentations
the Round Table will gather all the prominent theatre artists,
from Yugoslavia and abroad, that will exchange their thoughts and
opinions about the given subject through their own experience and
the actual cultural situation in Europe, Israel and the USA.
Some of the questions that will be dealt with on
the Round Table are:
- the experiences of contemporary theatre, especially independent
ones and their position today
- the artistic transformation and the search for the "live
" theatre
- the alternative spirit in institutional forms, and the institutional
professionalism in the alternative forms
- new forms of artistic organizing and networking
- the collaboration with different institutions and applying experiences
in pedagogical work
